About Us
Phil Funnel sold BMW motorcycles. “I don’t sell bikes, I create enthusiasts”. Phil believed in the bikes and the people who rode them, and proved it every time he, or other club members rode down to South America.
Originally a self-help group, It also went by the nickname “Phil’s follies” and the joke was that Phil would show riders how to wear out their bikes or what accessories they would need for that next long trip. With all the old BMWs still running, it didn’t work very well.
Riders would meet socially, over good food, and discuss bikes, rides, and ways to keep their bikes running forever. Food was always an important setting for the meetings and from that, the first motto was born. “Live to eat, eat to ride”.
Years
later and nothing has really changed. We are still a club of BMW enthusiasts
who meet over food and talk about bikes and rides. Not many of us ride to Peru
anymore and not all of our bikes run forever. We are also no longer a club just
for BMW owners. After all, we are a club for enthusiasts, not bikes.
This is a brief write up which we will be updating to include some the changes that have taken place with the club over the past years.
